BC

Scrilla Talks about BC project – Concept, Production, Features and Timelines.

The BC project as understood is a concept project of  fusion of styles of music sonically. Hip hop as a music has been around for decades and it transcends other music genres, so in the BC project the arrangement rap songs do vary from your average rap songs.  But lets take it back to the start WHY BC? that would be the obvious question.  So the title BC is a pun but also represents a concept of music over time through the ages. Also taken into consideration current society needs in terms of values which in comparison has regressed in time hence the title BC. Although its the New Age, in a more civilised world, our moral content is one which everything is permissible depending on which side of  LAW you sit.

The title BC stands for Bangers & Cash in musical terms but in the short form (BC) stands for our time span values, attitudes, and also serves to explain Scrilla mc as an artist, his origins relative to his music. Obviously without giving away too much, the project contains for the most part fun music. The music genre is still hip hop (music hip hop) (music grime) (music UK) and the lyrics on the project ranges from introducing the artist to relationship scenarios, life experiences  to lyrical excercises by  Scrilla Mc.  All the rap songs are concept driven relative to their titles and placement relative to the overall BC project.

Production wise, Scrilla worked with a number of up & coming producers who are hungry, innovative with fresh ideas. The main directive was to evolve the hip hop sound (hiphopdx) fusing elements of R&B music, Jazz music,  Grime music, dubstep sounds( i.e the heavy bassline a singnature of this new genre) with hip hop music and beats. As a team we feel the Uk scene has to evolve from the customary boom bap to contemporary music, but thats a different post on its own. Amongst the list of producers include VLM, Rocksolid media, Nira Diana, Monstah Productions, Elementree, Mastaplanet, Rets beats, G.Moan, Harris beats, Alan skf, Pswax, Marcus boyd and Danage recs. The music engineering was done mostly by LMPrecords, a UK producer as well as Morfius and Rocksolid media.

With regards to features the executive producer wanted to work with unsigned artists only. Whilst there are advantages to working with established artists, we felt that this project will be best served working with unsigned talents as they have no restrictions and more flexible in terms of music, lyrics and ideas. Most of the features are already known to fans as some of the songs are available online for streaming ( click the soundcloud icon on the homepage for streaming ).

At this moment in time the project is almost complete with just the theme song titled BC left, in the production phase. The coming months will be exciting times for the fans as we move onto the release phase, marketing and promotion of the project.  We will also be giving out more free music and music downloads in the coming months as the projects enters the release phase. The new music will be online free music and includes songs which never made the projects but recorded as part of the BC project pack of rap songs.Other news for fans will be the coming launch of the clothing range (Urban apparel, Urban Clothing & Hip hop Clothing). Already we’ve received brand name approval and trademark registration and currently developing the site to accomodate the new shop facilities for apparel. Apparel ranges from street wear to kids clothes to foot wear with more products schedule for launch later on.

Scrilla has started work on a project with Canvaseye records (Notbyyourself project) to release a compilation cd, raising funds for charities in aid of the Japan earthquake/Tsunami. Its a global project with music artists from various parts of the world submitting songs to be included in the cd. Scrilla will also be featuring in the Notbyyourself feature film which is been recorded, with a release scheduled in the winter of 2011.

Scrilla is also collaborating with a Canadian Singer (Nira Diana) in working on a new track to be included in his upcoming album. An exclusive snippet will be uploaded onto his website for fans to listen. The song is been recorded in Canada as well as London, with a host of producers and engineers working to get the song sounding at peak levels.

Added to this, the release of Beautiful Goodbye (the new single) is imminent and the fans are eagerly awaiting the release. Scrilla Beautiful Goodbye now available for download< A press release will be featured to announce the release date. The P.R for Single is being handled by Mahvrick PR in Florida whom signed Scrilla up for distribution of the song. Mahvrick PR has worked with stars such as Jay Z, Mystical, Punjabi Mc, Ayi Jhiru and the first press release will be sent out this week to over 1000 press agents, including national newspapers and magazines.

The coming months will see the site updated for merchandising purposes as Scrilla is gearing up for the launch of his clothing label. The web administrator and design teams are busy behind the scenes getting the apparel as well as the site ready for the launch of the clothing range. The last quarter of the year will hopefully see the completion of the work. No launch date has been set so as to avoid any setbacks. The team feel that they would like the time to put all the pieces together before a launch date will be announced.

This week also sees the death of the Soul/Jazz Singer Amy Winehouse. The death still came as a surprise to everyone and for sure the music industry has lost one of its real talent. May her soul rest in peace.
